Mons Royal Wool Women’s Enduro VT Jersey
Two Minute Gear Review
WOOL IS A GIRL’S BEST FRIEND.
Or should be! Enter this little ditty: the Mons Royal Enduro VT Jersey. This is a great 3-season short-sleeved jersey which is feathery soft. The mesh side panels make it nice ‘n breezy for summer riding. I have the gray and black version.- but I’ll be ordering a lighter color for summer cuz duh, the black makes my back hot.
The jersey has a flattering fit and is true to size. I am 5’5″ and 134 lbs and the M is just slightly on the roomy side.
The jersey was stellar on it’s first hot ‘n sweaty ride: a new section of the Great Divide Trail in Wyoming that climbs up to Sublette Pass. We descended in the near-dark and the temp dropped. Did I get icky clammy cold? Nope, because that’s the beauty of wool ~ it keeps you warm even when damp.
This is the winning piece in my kit closet with only two things that might be an issue for some:
1) the material is slightly see-through, at least in the gray/black version. I discovered that when I wear a pink sports bra, the bra is visible just a tad. I’m kind of over that sort of thing though.
2) the side pocket isn’t very practical. It’s awkward to get to and too small. I would rather have the traditional bike jersey pockets.
These jerseys are no longer listed on the Mons Royal website but you can get them at Evo. The blue below is still available in all sizes and is on sale for $59.99. If it sounds like a lot I betcha it will be the jersey that’s always on stand-by for a ride.
I contacted the folks at Mons Royal and they said that the jersey will once again be offered on their site in Spring 22 and in a new offering of colors.
Here’s the full description:
Merino Air-Con – A lightweight fabric for year-round use, Merino Air-Con is constructed from super fine merino fibres that are spun around a nylon core. This provides the next to skin comfort, breathability and odour control of merino with the durability of nylon. A touch of elastane provides ease of movement and shape retention.
Even though I haven’t had this an entire season, I give it 4/5 stars. The main downside is the lack of utility for the back pocket and some may not like the transparency of the fabric.
All for now, happy trails my friends!
